WAVING HELLO AND GOOD-BYE - 2010

My dears, who among us truly relish the task of packing up treasures and moving?

One fears that priceless artifacts will suffer in the transport by removal van and wonders if the new home will look as lovely as one left.  Endless days of packing and sleepless nights lead up to the big day.

On road lived and community part of, moving day is endless parade of vehicles pressed into service by new tenats to deal with the transport of personal possessions.  No fancy removal vans pull into car park to off load.  Come to think on, neither do the fancy removal vans come to haul away sticks of furniture of the departing.  We will get into the departing in a bit...

Lovely folks moving in yesterday had the good fortune to beat the horrid weather that came upon, most of loads had been dropped off day before.  Piles of boxes filled living room and the kitchen was not of much use as the pots and pans still had to be unpacked.

A geat secret was discovered in moving in to flat.  No where to be found was the outlet to hook up the telly.  Oft is the case that folks want to be able to have telly soonest and Comcast had scheduled a hook-up.  The not so lovely chap who came to do, did not.  Flat out refused to do.  Would not climb up and deal with getting the proper wires going.

Ringing up Michael McKinney, that brilliant chap told of before, had him come out and sort out the problem.  Partial.  Michael promises to get full service quickly.  Much needed as one of the tenants attends school over the internet.

Let us go back to the departing tenants...

As is oft the case, tenants feel put upon in leaving.  Not wanting to deal with new order, they voted with feet and found a new flat in the community.  Lovely.  Or is it?

Parting of ways makes tenants want to 'dump' on the folks leaving.  Storage bins emptied have rubbish scattered in front of and some of the storage bins left with massive amount of rubbish that will have to be hauled to large rubbish bin for removal.  Flat is not emptied of possessions, the departing tenant feels that moving allows one to drag out until they want to turn in the keys.  No rent paid but they want 'grace period' to depart.

The WELCOME mat is out for lovely new tenants to the road and community and a sigh of relief at the back of the departing not-so-friendly tenants.  May the departed by happy being unhappy on a different road and the new neighbours linger long.

As for this old geezer, day will be filled greeting another new neighbour and sorting out the problems making ready yet another unit in time for more lovely folks.  Coffee is hot.  A large bowl of biscuits has joined the ever present container of sweets.  How inviting is that?

Bugger the rain, me office is filled with the bright sunshine of smiling visitors and classical music playing in the background.  MOI will have a most excellent adventure today, will you?
