FRANGIBLE MARY - QUEEN OF THE RAILS - 2010

The Queen of Hearts is a character from the book Alice's Adventures in Wonderland by the writer and mathematician Lewis Carroll. She is a foul-tempered monarch, that Carroll himself pictured as "a blind fury", and who is quick to decree death sentences at the slightest offense. Her most famous line, one which she repeats often, is "Off with their heads!"

The Queen had only one way of settling all difficulties, great or small. 'Off with his head!' she said, without even looking round.

Contrary to popular belief, me office is not a constant scene of motion.  There are moments when the window looking out onto the car park brings to light persons of interest, headed toward and allowing MOI to hear yet another one of life's stories.  Such was the case yesterday morn, and what a story it way.  MOI just sat back and visited a spell with the lovely lady.

Mary is the name of the lovely lady met.  Turns out she is  mum to one of the tenants who live at the Linda Villa.  Having had a night to think hard on the meet, coming up with the opening from "Alice in Wonderland" just seemed to fit.  Mind, as the story continues to unfold, you might begin to feel as this old geezer, a bit confused still.

What strikes you first about Mary is the wild mane of hair she has.  Being a woman of a certain age, the only way that her hair could be the colour it is, would  be from a bottle.  The style is WILD, sort of layered and very full.  Reminds one of the classic snap of a lady in the 70's, Farrah Fawcett.  The second thing you hit on is the rather large butterfly tattooed onto the back of her hand.

Mary is a FREE SPIRIT.  So free is she that she looks for love on the INTERNET.  Has an account with one of the dating services and has met a few of the chaps on it.  Has travelled to Oregon and Colorado and is soon to depart to Utah in search of a partner.  Fancy that!

Mary is a pteromerhanophobic and will only travel to meet new men by rail.  With her past luck, Mary should by a yearly rail pass...

The latest adventure in the advert department has Mary headed off to meet a chap who has been married 3 times, and to this day, still lives in the house of an ex.  Mind, if you can call living in a basement home that is.  The house where Mary will stay is miles from nearest town, she will be in the basement, dealing with a former wife and children who live over.

The former wife is in a wheelchair and one of the children is missing a leg.  Not to sound cruel, the situation does not sound very lively upstairs and one wonders how three women with degrees of handicap will be able to do a proper cook up in the kitchen.

Life has been hard for Mary.  Been dealt a few bad cards she has.  Let self go, to the point that she laughs about not having any teeth.  What with all of the missing bits and bobs, one wonders if she or the chap are truly listening to one another and if they are, what is the true purpose of visiting.
For all of the effort on the part of Mary to come off as being able to fend for self, truth be told, a few moments with, and one quickly sees that she is a lost soul.  Mary is the sort who will listen to folks try to explains things to, then go about and do exactly as she planned.  Mary has already set the stage for what is to follow.  She will try to overlook many of the problems to be had with this chap.  If that does not work, she will gather up a few things and hit the rails again.  How very sad.

As tragic as the story of Mary might turn out, one has to admire her pluck.  Adventure is her game and it seems that it is enough to fuel her effort to live on.  More's the pity that many of the folks in community do not try to do more with life.  Not saying that Mary has made right choice, just that she is trying to right self.

My dears, just one of the stories heard.  Imagine how many can be heard if you a mind to.  Has to beat the rubbish on the telly...

Will keep you posted as to the adventures of Mary and will most assuredly find out if LOVE was found in Utah.
