JINGLE MAIL

My dears, this old geezer is enough of a drama queen to know when to exit the stage.  There is no point standing on the stage playing to an empty theatre with the lights out.

Late Saturday afternoon past, the departing former tenant and ex-manager of the Linda Villa, picked the dying hours of an afternoon to shove an envelope containing flat keys into the slot at the office.  Having attended a baby shower with the former maintainance person in tow, the last act of her reign at the Linda Villa came to an end.

Dripping with drama, the former manager, made a dramatic scene of shoving the envelope into the slot and spun round to glare at MOI.  Who just happened to be watching the curtain come down on her.  Wanting to gloat, the former manager went to vehicle, sat and waited, to see if there would be a rush to office to verify that keys had been returned.  There was no such pleasure given.

Much of what went wrong at the Linda Villa can be laid at her doorstep.  After months of righting wrongs, there is still dirt to be swept up from the chaos of her reign.  Mind, she not be alone in this, Murray listened to her counsel far longer than should have, and together they formed a united front in what came to be at the Linda Villa.

The blind leading the blind.  Reaching out in a weak moment, a position of trust was placed on the former manager with little guidance and even less ability to perform the role expected of.

What disturbs most, is the feeling on the part of the former manager that she had been dealt with unfairly.  No amount of fairness showed could wash from her mind that she had been done wrong.  That blame was to be shared and not fobbed off like so much lint on coat.

Times changed and with the changing times came an attitude of entitlement.  Massive animal population, complete disregard for rules and bitter feelings for MOI were of no import when placed next to her hurt feelings.  Nothing was going to change attitude and that my dears was the problem in a shell.

It may well have been that the former manager did not feel obligated to be as all in the complex.  That treating ALL with fairness was the right thing to do.  One will never know the answers to that.   One is not even sure one would want to.

There is much to be said for departing with grace.  Why go to lengths in making one and all an active participant in one last temper tantrum?  Truth be told, that was the rule here at the Linda Villa, drama played out daily and might well have been the reason the former manager stayed on.

The flat will be cleaned, carpet tossed, walls painted and kitchen made proper.  When complete, the horrid ordors of cat poo and piss will seem like they never were.  A new home will be available for another family who just might appreciate it more.

What saddens this old geezer is that the former tenant sees self as victim in this play, rather than the playwrite of the misery left on stage in viewing the tragedy.  Acting as critic, this old geezer will write the closing notice;

"After a stormy run, the tragedy has closed, with the departure of the actress.  Theatre is closed for repairs."
