With Merrie Monarch in Hilo April 8 - 14th, seemed a good time to revisit the Hilo Bay Hostel. One year later, the hostel is standing at the ready to welcome guests to the celebrations to come.
Just think of the adventures to be had if you were there. What are you waiting for?
Opportunity presented self to do a smart filmed bit of the Hilo Bay Hostel. Being ever so clever, this old geezer took camera on a tour of the hostel and added his colourful commentary to go with. Fancy that.
The filmed bit was done just hours before the arrival of a large group from New Zealand. They had booked out the entire hostel, affording this old geezer the ability to roam with worry of filming anyone who did not wish to be seen.
To be true, it was a special day, not always do chocolates, orchids and much flowers get placed in all of the rooms. Local flowers are placed in rooms on-going but not so massive an effort. All of the sights seen in the rooms are normal for the hostel, what you see is what is in play 365 days a year.
The common areas of the hostel are also well decorated, save for the special arrangements in place for the special booking.
I rather think that the filmed bit is a true presentation of how the hostel appears to one and all that book in.
This old geezer is not told what to write in his blog, it is the opinion of this old geezer alone. Having said that, I must tell true what one can expect at the hostel.
The Big Kahuna is all about hospitality, ever effort is made to made one and all feel special. Unlike some hostels that have 'special' rates for 'high demand' periods, the Hilo Bay Hostel has but one 'every day low price'. Not even the 'Merrie Monarch' week, a very popular and high demand period, sees the prices of the hostel go up. Fancy that...
This old geezer does not apologize for the high regard held for the Big Kahuna and his merry band of staff or the hostel. It is what it is, and I rather think it is the best of its kind.
