A DREAM IS HARD TO KILL

Almost two years ago, this old geezer threw a block party to draw attention to improved conditions on road lived and a part of.  It was a grand affair and will long remain a high point in me life.  Even today, nary a view of the filmed bit fails to bring tears to face as the brilliant day is remembered.

There be many who feel that this old geezer is a bit full of self, that every action is calculated to add glory to self.  Truth be told, no amount of denial will convince some that not be the case.  Have long since given up trying.

This old geezer is a quick study and remembers and tries to not repeat them.  In planning the "LINDA DRUG OUT" it was hoped that history would not repeat self and in the end the efforts would take stronger root than did in a different place and different time.

This time round, much that had made the block party so very hard to do were not present.

Yuba County is blessed to have elected officials that CARE.  Neighbours who truly want to make road and community a better place.  For a time, it was felt that there was every chance that throwing a party at complex lived, road a part of and community lived in would be the start of something new and exciting, a re-birth of sorts.

Linda, Ca gets a bad rap, as does the Linda Villa.  Folks are so locked in on 'what was', they still want to see no improvement, and there is much improved.

The Linda Villa, like much of Linda had fallen on hard times.  Many told of nicer times, life was simple, business thrived and neighbours cared about one another.  Long before the days of drug dealers selling poison, the wee ones were able to play without fear, neighbours could enjoy the community and elected officials and the coppers could 'serve and protect' without feeling that they were but waiting for the other shoe to drop.

This old geezer knows a thing or two about hate.  Have felt it all of life due to being different.  How refreshing it was to land in a spot that saw so many folks willing to allow MOI to be a part of the community.  The elected officials and coppers saw someone who wanted to make a difference and were more than willing to overlook a few 'feathers'...

Sadly, drug dealers and punters who buy the poison, layabouts and benefits cheats only saw a different sort before and tried to hurl insults at to dirve away.  Feeling no pride in selves, they did not want anyone else to feel pride either.

No purpose is served to make change to a road or community if one of the most important parts of that change fails to see the need to do all possible to contribute.  Being a landlord comes with more obligation than providing a flat for rent and collecting rents.  However failed the mission might have been in the past, it was time to step up and do the right thing, and do it completely.  Much depended on it.

Nothing prevents this old geezer from doing what he is passionate about.  One just has to approach it differently than what was one thought in the beginning.  Things changed and a smart man sees the change and adapts.

Proclamations were planned for, attention to shower down on the head of MOI.  More ego for the wall.

The block party planned for May 8th, 2010 is still in works.  A much different feel to it is taking shape.  The focus is more on the individual neighbours who make the road, complex and community a better place.  At me age, there is no need for another piece of paper to tell how grand I be.

One person can make a difference.  Real change happens if that ONE person gets more to join the parade.  In so many ways, that has already been achieved.  Andy is very big on efforts to make this part of Linda shine.  Steve is doing all possible to lend support to drive out the evil creatures that plague the community.  The same goes for Neil, Robert, Inger, Paul, Barbara, William, Shawn, Jennifer, Randy.  There be so many more in the parade now.

Murray Kay has placed a few toes in the water, all the while clinging to the pier, very afraid to BELIEVE that he can make it More's the pity that.

It may well be true that you can not teach an old dog new tricks.

Truth be told, this old geezer entered into a business relationship with Murray with eyes wide open.  Too much might have been expected, expectations too high.  This old geezer may well have lost a few coins and time.  The dream for a better place to live, road to walk upon and be a part of a better community lives on in spite of failings on Murray's part to grasp the future laid out for him.

Life is not fair, one has to accept set backs.  It is the bigger dream that matters and with or without complete support, it is still possible to do one's best.

If but one life is changed, much is changed.
