20 years past, this old geezer had the good fortune to receive an invite from locals in Honolulu to attend 'Lei Day' Festivities on the green. I remember it well, these many years later.
It was a glorious day, as I recall, and there were many folks gathered on the lawn to enjoy the music. All sort of folks.
This old geezer was always with the drama, even then. I had taken two Maile Leis and wove together. On them were strung white Christmas lights, the sort powered by battery.
When the sun dropped in the sky and it became dark enough to pull off the dramatic effect, this old geezer switched on the power, illuminating the Lei and self. There were gasps from folks round, them a rolling sound of clapping as folks took in the full effect of seeing MOI ablaze...
I remember well the ALOHA felt that day...
